A little about me

Creative | Self-aware | At least sometimes funny

I believe that life outside of work is just as important as what happens in the office—every experience shapes the way I see the world and approach design. Here’s a little about both.

You’ll find me in a river or on a trail, typically with a camera in hand, hunting for insects and pretending I want to photograph something so I can take a break. I like bumbling around in nature and focusing on the little things and their connection to what’s around them.

I have hopes and dreams of one day making the perfect mac and cheese, becoming friends with all dogs on planet earth, and finding out that animals can in fact speak to humans.

Some of these are more attainable than others.

My passion for animals and the outdoors is what originally drew me to my Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. My empathy, creativity and passion for making life easier is what lead me down the path of UX design. I was hooked from the moment I started my graduate degree.

My dream is probably similar to others - merge my passions and skills into one venture and make an impact in a space that matters. I find energy and fulfillment in working with creative thinkers, no matter how their creativity takes shape. It fuels me.

Life may have taken me down an unusual and long path to get here, but as the great, real life wizard Gandalf once said…

“A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.”

And here I am.

my brand

Opening the gate

Lord of the Rings was my gateway into fantasy and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I’m famously bad at remembering movie quotes unless LOTR is on. Then I’ll impress (or possibly annoy) you by reciting entire scenes.

When I set out to design a brand for myself, I knew it had to reflect what inspires me most: the creativity and wonder found in fantasy. My brand draws from the Battle of the Black Gate, which to me, symbolizes unity, courage, hope, and imagination.

I’m opening the gate to a brand that channels those values, just without the looming eye of Sauron.

world building

I pulled my colors directly from the Lord of the Rings films. I wanted colors that were bold, simple and full of contrast.

My logo is my take on the Battle of the Black Gate and how it carries into my brand: two gate doors swinging open with a circle in the center. The circle symbolizes partnership. For me, it’s about stepping through the door together into a world where the possibilities are (almost) endless. I value collaboration, trust and opening doors - not closing them,

embracing the magic

My brand is never a completed quest, but an ever-iterating adventure. All the designers out there will understand this sentiment.

My brand is shaped by my curiosity, creativity and willingness to learn. In every collaboration I embark on, new skills are learned and a little more magic can find it’s way into my brand.

This is only the beginning.
